National Adoption Month

Pensacola, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2015) – November is National Adoption Month, and locally we have a great need for adoptive homes. Many children are living in foster care or with a relative, and it's likely they will return home or to live with a family member. However, approximately 50 of those children are legally free for adoption and have no identified potential home.

The need is so great that some children must be placed in foster homes outside the area and away from their regular support systems such as relatives, friends and teachers. Of greatest need are homes for teens, sibling groups, children with special needs and those with medical needs. FamiliesFirst Network (FFN) has planned two events in November when community members can support and learn more about adoption. Please join us:

FFN Art of Adoption
A photographic exhibit will be on display during Gallery Night at Artel Gallery that features professional photos of local children who are in foster care waiting to be adopted. Meet adoption representatives, enjoy refreshments and celebrate adoption.

The 5th annual Footprints to a Forever Family Adoption 5K Run/Walk
Celebrate all types of adoption: international, domestic infant adoption and adoption from foster care. Join us for snacks, awards, door prizes, a free kids' run, music, and kids' activities. Everyone is welcome, especially those impacted by adoption.

Registration is $20. Late registration is $25 at 8:30 a.m.; Event starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m.
