SHAPE Program Provides Community HIV Testing and Education
Pensacola, Fla. (March 2, 2016) – Lakeview Center's SHAPE III program now has a mobile testing unit to take out into the community for HIV screening and education opportunities. Two events are scheduled at collaborating community churches during the month of March in observance of the 27th annual Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS. During the events, SHAPE staff will provide rapid HIV testing and street outreach, and hamburger lunches for all participants.
Wed., March 9, from 1 to 5:30 p.m., at Friendship Missionary Baptist, 2601 W. Strong Street
Fri., March 11, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Greater Little Rock Baptist, 901 North A Street
SHAPE is the acronym for the Substance-abuse, HIV Assessment & Prevention Education program. It provides a comprehensive approach to HIV and substance abuse prevention for young adults, communities of color, re-entry populations and other people at high-risk for HIV infection. Free, confidential Rapid HIV Testing services are available by appointment and at community locations and events as announced.
