Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2022

Pensacola, Fla. (March 31, 2022) – Sexual assault remains the most underreported crime in the U.S. according to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC). During April we observe Sexual Assault Awareness Month as an opportunity to promote awareness and support for survivors, family members and friends.

The NSVRC reported that during 2017, only 40% of rapes and sexual assaults were reported to police, and only about 25% were reported in 2018. It’s an uncomfortable topic, but one we must engage in with our community to change behaviors and improve such ominous statistics.

The Lakeview Center Victim Services team serves Gulf Coast communities providing crisis Intervention, Information and referral, advocacy and accompaniment, trauma recovery counseling, and support groups.
