Rachael McKeithen never planned to lead, but her 10-year journey at Lakeview Center proves sometimes purpose finds you. Starting as a high school temp at the methadone clinic, she returned in 2015 as a compliance auditor, craving a behind-the-scenes role after stepping back from leadership at a prior organization. “I wasn’t looking for more,” she says, but a new challenge sparked a path she couldn’t ignore.
That path grew into Lakeview Center’s director of Business Practice Management, overseeing a dynamic mix of billing compliance, licensing, contracts, credentialing, front desk staff and system setup across behavioral health programs.
A standout milestone was securing a major insurance commercial contract in 2018—a year-long battle that birthed her credentialing department when she tackled provider onboarding herself. “I didn’t dream it would grow like that,” she admits, laughing at her habit of diving in headfirst.
Rachael’s biggest pride is her team—a diverse crew supporting each other across varied functions, making her complex role feel like home. Her direct, transparent style, honed over years, drives collaboration. “I’m not afraid to say I don’t know,” she shares, a lesson learned navigating the organization’s 60+ programs. Asking questions, even repeatedly, ensures clarity and builds trust.
Over the past ten years, Rachel has learned many things, but she emphasizes the courage of speaking up has been her greatest growth tool—whether flagging an issue or seeking details, her confidence to question has opened doors, turning potential oversights into opportunities for improvement.
Her advice to newcomers is to find a trusted mentor or long-time employee who can give you a tour, forge new work relationships and embrace Lakeview Center’s culture. “Our clients are here because they’re struggling,” she notes. “Show grace, be kind, follow through.”
Looking ahead, Rachael aims to grow her compliance team and deepen her billing expertise. She is content in a role that fits her so well. “Lakeview feels right,” she says, a full-circle truth from a teen temp to a leader transforming challenges into opportunity.
