JoAnn Birge Women and Children's Center
This program was established to focus on women who are pregnant or post-partum, but we also will accept any women older than 18 when we have open capacity. Women meeting the criteria will receive mental health services, including group and individual therapy, in our safe environment including special accommodations for women with children so they can stay together during treatment.
If you would like to help support our mission in this program, visit our Amazon Wish List and select much-needed items for women and children in our residential treatment. You can choose to ship items directly to our center.
We also welcome monetary contributions to our program! A donation of $130 covers the cost of a GED for a woman graduating from substance misuse treatment. All gift levels are appreciated!
Admissions and criteria
Women meeting the criteria for admissions must adhere to the following:
- If mother or child require over-the-counter or prescribed medications, the mother is responsible for telling a staff member when such medication is needed. Providing her name and date of birth will allow the staff member to verify the correct medication, which will be retrieved from a locked medication room. Staff observe that all medications are swallowed.
- Mothers must supervise their children and perform tasks such as bathing, laundry, cooking and cleaning.
- Clients will engage in 10 hours of therapeutic and educational groups each week.
- Clients will adhere to all program policies and procedures.
