Lakeview Center introduces virtual Intensive Outpatient Program for teens facing substance misuse and mental health issues

Pensacola, Fla. (Jan. 7, 2025)Lakeview Center is proud to announce the launch of its Teen Intensive Outpatient Program, a fully virtual treatment option designed to support adolescents ages 12–17 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, academic or substance-use challenges. By removing transportation barriers, this program ensures teens across Escambia County and surrounding areas can access high-quality care from the comfort of home.

This virtual program is ideal for teens who:

  • Struggle with depression, anxiety or emotional regulation
  • Are experimenting with substance use or vaping
  • Have difficulty at school or home
  • Need structure and support with behavior or impulse control
  • Want to build healthier coping skills
  • Would benefit from intensive support but do not require inpatient care

“Access to care is one of the biggest challenges families face,” said Dustin Perry, director of residential services at Lakeview Center. “By offering this program virtually, we’re breaking down barriers and making sure teens get the mental health support they need—right where they are.”

The program provides structured, evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Teens participate in interactive sessions three evenings a week, learning practical coping strategies, emotional regulation skills and healthy decision-making. Family involvement is a key component, with weekly group sessions to strengthen communication and support at home. The goal is to empower teens and families with tools for resilience, confidence and brighter futures.

“As a Northwest Florida’s leader in behavioral health care, Lakeview Center is prepared to connect teens coming to us for mental health support with treatment options that best suit their needs,” said Perry. “With more than 60 programs from Escambia to Walton County – including children’s outpatient, community-based, inpatient and residential treatment – our team stands ready to serve teens that may need a higher level of care following this program or who are ready to progress to the outpatient setting.”

The Teen Intensive Outpatient Program meets virtually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m., with a family group session held on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. Teens may join at any time. Each participant completes a 6 to 8 week cycle, individualized to their needs.
