DeFuniak Springs, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2026) – Lakeview Center was awarded approximately $800,000 in first-year funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program, a statewide initiative announced by Gov. Ron DeSantis that leverages nearly $188 million in federal funds to expand access to healthcare in rural communities. Lakeview Center is one of 15 partner organizations participating in a Northwest Florida collaborative that secured the third-largest Rural Health Transformation Partnership award in the state.

The grant will support several initiatives in Walton County, a federally designated rural area, including expanded telehealth access for individuals with complex behavioral and physical health needs, mobile medication-assisted treatment services and a satellite clinic in central Walton to enhance access to mental health care and support services.

A portion of the funding will support workforce development efforts aimed at strengthening access to behavioral health services in Walton County as community needs continue to grow.

The grant will also support a dedicated benefits specialist who will help individuals and families navigate healthcare coverage and community resources. This team member will assist eligible individuals with applications and renewals for programs such as Medicaid, reducing barriers to care and helping people maintain access to both behavioral healthcare and other essential medical services throughout the community.

The Agency for Health Care Administration awarded funding in every grant category included in the regional application. The Year 1 award reflects the full funding requested by the regional partnership. The collaborative effort demonstrates the power of partnerships in creating innovative solutions to improve healthcare access and outcomes.
